So i've decided in order lose my beer belly i really need to start stepping up my game and really go for it now. Its seems that i'm going to have to start really looking at what i'm eating and i need to get on my bike (quite literally) and put in some serious cardio work. This is even more important now that i've started doing some weights to try to get the rest of my body in some sort of shape too.
So to start my food. I'm going to start doing a food diary and see how many calories i am eating a day, however i really need to find a calorie counter where i can tot up my daily total. (any help would be appricated).
So aims:
1) try to lose at least a few inches off my belly
2) Increase my arm size
I'll probably post my sizes as in waist and arm sizes tomorrow as well so i can see how well i progress over the coming months

Excellent plan !
I use a spreadsheet listing each item consumed, eg cup of tea 20 cals, large banana 120 cals., etc.
You will probably find that you have got an idea what most foods are in terms of calories by the end of the first week if your diet is as dull as mine. Then it is just repetition with the occasional novelty thrown in. It is easy.
Many supermarket foods have their calorific content stated on the packet or tin. The rest can be obtained by a google of, say, 'calories apricots' and some useful websites will appear. A bit fiddly but actually weighing things is more accurate than guesstimation. Same for volume with a measuring jug. Takes a bit of discipline. Takeaway foods are much more tricky : fish and chips or chicken curry with rice are very difficult to estimate and should be avoided anyway !
I use approximately 10 times my weight in pounds per day in calories as a 'budget' and try to stay within that. The more exercise you do, the more difficult that is, of course.
Finally, do blog it. It is interesting for others (I think/hope) and it WILL check you murdering a Mars Bar if the temptation arises, or at least it will make you feel guilty and perhaps not do it again too readily.
Best of luck.
