So it was my first coaching session i've taken since the end of july due to the summer break and it went really well. The kids are under 10 now which means its their last season playing 'mini-soccer'.
It went well i think, we changed our approach slightly by using my idea of splitting the kids down between the coaches which meant the kids got more time with the ball and more of our time.
What made my night though was some one came up to us at the end (shes a training teacher who has never watched us train before as her kids turned up to the wrong session but we let them join in any way) she told us that if PE lessons were like how we ran our coaching sessions that she thinks the kids would have more fun at school and they would be more likely to do more exercise away from school. It was just a nice comment, she didnt have to say any thing like that so it was nice to hear. Things like that remind you of why you give up your time for it!

Full marks for your public spirit, giving up your time to help others like that ! Sounds as though it is really appreciated.
However, I hope you do not encounter what I did when similarly involved, finding that over-age kids were being fielded in games to gain unfair advantage - this in junior league soccer. The rabid, conniving and ambitious parents had to be experienced to be believed (the kids were fine). It was clear that football was not 'just a game' to them. Very sad.
Good luck with the venture anyway.
